Design your own light-up name sign, right here in your browser.

Inkbytes is a set of free tools for anyone teaching themselves 3D design and printing. Type a name or initials (or upload your own image), pick a font, and get a real 3D model — plus box and lid STL files you can print or cut yourself.

The Lightbox Creator

Type a name or initials — or upload your own image — choose a font, and set your size. The preview shows how the shape gets routed fully through the front panel, with a thin diffuser lid in the same shape sitting in that cavity so the LED reads as your design. Download real box and lid STL files when you're happy with it.

4mm is the minimum — that's the thinnest rim of material that can still hold a wall around the design. Below that there'd be nothing left to cut the letter into.

STL notes — files are real millimetre-scale geometry, ready to slice or send to a print service. Closed counters (the triangle in A, the holes in O, B, D, P, Q, R…) are preserved as separate solid plug pieces at the same thickness as the front panel, matching the lid exactly — they come out as loose parts in the box STL, so seat them into the cutout and bridge or glue them in place before printing/cutting. In Contoured mode the outer body of both the 3D view and the STL files hugs the shape directly, including any broken or disconnected strokes in decorative fonts (the flat diagrams below still show a simplified rectangle — check the 3D view for the real silhouette). A small outline margin keeps those gaps authentic; if strokes are spaced far enough apart the case can split into separate pieces the same way counters do — raise the margin if you'd rather it fuse into one solid case.
